REAL CUSTOMER, HONEST REVIEWS.

Like $9 bucks is totally fine for subscription. And if my guys are with a customer or in attic working in the heat it is nice to not text and bug, but just check with the app where they are.

Nathan B. Nathan B.Verified buyer

Support is good, tracker is fast. No harsh braking alerts, but great if you just want to track a car.

Adam B. Adam B.Verified buyer

We used Bouncie before and the updates were much slower. Very happy we made the switch.

Antonio G. Antonio G.Verified buyer

Thanks for helping me set up and track my mom. It’s awesome to just know where she is when she ignores my texts. Thankfully, she doesn't drive at night anymore lol

Matthew H. Matthew H.Caring for a parent

Easy even for someone not very smart like me. Tracks my service vans quick. Still cheaper than the stuff on Amazon.

Understanding GPS tracking

What Is Real-Time GPS Tracking?

Two minutes, plain English. What a GPS tracking device does, and how it differs from a phone app.

Not The Phone. The Car.

A phone-tracking app tells you where the phone is, and only if the person kept it, kept it charged and kept location sharing on. Real time tracking works differently. The tracker sits inside the car, is powered by the car, and reports the vehicle's location over cellular data every 3 seconds. Nothing to charge, nothing to remember, nothing to switch off.

Under the hood

How an OBD2 GPS Tracker Actually Works

Every US car built after 1996 has an OBD2 port under the dashboard on the driver's side a small trapezoidal socket originally designed for emissions testing. It's the same port your mechanic uses to read engine codes.

The Konnect tracker plugs into that port. It draws power from the port's 12V rail (so it's always on when the car is), reads GPS position from its own onboard chip, and sends that position over a 4G LTE cellular connection to Konnect's servers every 3 seconds.

The Konnect app on your phone reads the same server data in real time. That's the whole architecture no local network, no Bluetooth pairing, no data caps.

1
Tracker Gets GPS Position The onboard chip locks onto 4+ satellites and calculates location, speed and direction, accurate to 3 meters.
2
4G LTE Upload Position sent to Konnect servers every 3 seconds
3
Server Stores & Serves Trip route history retained for 12 months
4
App Reads Live Data Map, alerts, geofence checks, all from the server.
5
Alerts Push To Phone A speed or geofence trigger becomes a notification within seconds.

What does a no monthly fee GPS tracker actually include?

One purchase, $199, with 12 months of tracking service included: the tracker, a prepaid SIM card already inside it, the free app, and every feature, with no monthly billing, no recurring costs and no surprise charges.

You skip the carrier activation and the auto-renewing card on file entirely. When the 12 months end, you renew for another year at a flat rate if you want to keep tracking, or you simply stop. Nothing to worry about in between.

Is it really a GPS tracker without additional fees?

Yes. For the full 12 months there is no activation fee, no yearly fees, no charge for the app, alerts or trip history, and no fee to stop. The only cost after the first year is the renewal you choose. Shipping is free, and the tracker carries a lifetime warranty. That is what total cost transparency means here: the price on the button is the price.

Is this the same tracker as the $39.95 OBD2 GPS Tracker?

Yes. Same hardware, same app, same 3-second updates and lifetime warranty. The difference is billing. This version bundles 12 months of service into a single purchase with no monthly billing and nothing to cancel. The other is $39.95 for the tracker plus $8.95 a month, cancel anytime. Choose the billing you would rather live with.

How does a no fee GPS tracker compare with a hardwired GPS tracker or a hidden GPS tracker?

They are three different tools. A hardwired GPS tracker is wired into the vehicle by an installer: always on, hard to find, and a permanent install.

A hidden tracker, usually a mini GPS tracker with a magnetic mount and a magnetic waterproof case, goes anywhere, including trailers and heavy equipment, but runs on a battery you have to charge.

Konnect's no fee tracker plugs into the OBD port in 30 seconds, is powered by the car, updates every 3 seconds and moves between vehicles. Pick by the job, not the price.

Can a thief just unplug it?

An OBD port is accessible, so yes, a thief who knows where to look can unplug it. That is why tamper detection is built in: the moment it is unplugged you get an instant alert, and a small backup battery keeps reporting the car's location for about 15 minutes, usually long enough for theft recovery to start. If a vehicle is a high theft risk, pair it with a hidden tracker the thief cannot find. Many owners run both.

What is the battery life, and does it need charging?

There is no battery life to manage, because the car is the power source. Battery-powered trackers require recharging or battery replacement, and the no monthly fee trackers that advertise up to 6 years on a single battery get there by limiting the update frequency to a few reports a day. Konnect draws power from the OBD port, so it delivers real time tracking every 3 seconds and never needs charging. Parked, it draws under 30 milliamps, less than a car alarm.

Is the free app included, and do I need an account?

The Konnect app is free on iPhone and Android, and one account covers every tracker you own. Every function is included: live map, speed and geofence alerts, tamper alerts, and a year of trip history. Family members or staff can share the account. There is no premium tier and no functionality held back behind a fee.

What makes the best GPS tracker with no monthly fee?

Five things, and most competitors miss at least two. Update frequency: many no fee trackers report every few minutes or a few times a day, while Konnect updates every 3 seconds. What the service included covers: 12 months of everything, not a stripped tier. The network: 4G LTE, not a technology being retired. Coverage: 155+ countries. And the renewal price stated before you buy, plus a lifetime warranty on the hardware.

Will a no monthly fee GPS tracking device stop working when networks change?

Not this one. Konnect runs on 4G LTE, the current US standard. Older prepaid trackers built on 3G went dark when carriers shut those networks down in 2022, and the prepaid years people had bought went with them. That is a good reason to check the network before buying any tracker with no monthly fee: a prepaid year is only worth it on hardware that will outlive the year.

How accurate is the real time location tracking?

Within a few meters under open sky, refreshed every 3 seconds while the car moves. The location data is shown on the map in the app, saved as trip history for a full year, and used for geofence alerts the moment the car enters or leaves a zone you draw.

Is it a good option for fleet managers?

Yes, for the reason accounting likes it: one purchase per vehicle, no monthly billing to reconcile, no per-vehicle subscription to cancel when a truck is sold. Every vehicle shows on one map, and volume pricing applies at checkout for five or more. Add trackers as the fleet grows.

Does it work as a GPS vehicle tracker in any car?

It works in every car and light truck sold in the US since 1996, when the OBD II port became standard. Tesla and most motorcycles are the exceptions. It also moves between vehicles: unplug it from one, plug it into the next, and it keeps tracking. For trailers, boats and heavy equipment with no OBD port, a magnetic vehicle tracker is the right tool.
